Designing Tips:

Use horizontal and vertical lines to match with other design elements. For balance and proportion, ensure the thickness of the elements correspond to the weight of the fonts

Choose a color palette that 1-3 primary colors and a 1-3 additional secondary colors that contrast and complement each other. Use different shades of the same color for consistency by adjusting the brightness for contrast. Finer characters will need stronger distinction on a colored background

Always ask the customer how they want the final image. If they want the Illustrator file, and you have many layers, but do not want to move them to a new work of art, one by one, it is easier to draw a large rectangle on the final image, Ctrl + right-click and select 'Create clipping mask. This crop your artwork to the shape you've drawn

The best way to start any project in your sketchbook: get your ideas on paper, and be disjointed. Push ideas around, make comments, document everything that comes into your head. When I plan an image, everything usually comes from keywords and sketches, from there it is just a layout issue
